Devlog #1: Hardware Soldering & Power Distribution SetupTime Spent: 4 HoursProject Concept & Autonomous LogicBuilding an autonomous ESP32 mobile robot that identifies, grips, and clears obstacle objects to open areas.- Search & Detection: Ultrasonic sensor continuously scans forward; halts and aligns when an object enters the 8cm threshold.- Gripping & Spatial Mapping: Servo gripper secures the object. A servo-mounted ultrasonic sensor rotates 0°–180° to calculate the vector with maximum open clearance.- Relocation & Rescan: Robot navigates to the identified open space, drops the object, and rescans the environment.- Idle Search Loop: If no target is within 8cm, the robot incrementally pivots left in a continuous patrol-and-scan loop.What I Built Today (Hardware Progress)- Layout Design: Planned component placement and trace routing on Zero PCB board.- Power Regulation: Connected 18650 Li-ion battery pack to LM2596 Buck Converter for stable 5V output.- Header Sockets: Soldered 8-pin female header block for motor driver + male headers for ESP32, servos, and sensors.- Circuit Protection: Soldered main push-button switch and 1000µF decoupling capacitor across 5V rails to prevent ESP32 brownouts.- Auxiliary Power: Added separate 9V battery line to power motor drivers independently.
