The cheesebox is a small emulation device that uses a cm5 board. It will have the power to emulate 5th gen and select 6th and 7th gen hardware. I plan for it to be kind of flat so I can make a screen, battery and controller addon down the line to make it portable. Why is it called "The Cheesebox", because I like cheese.
DEVLOG 3:
I finished wiring the audio jack (I realized later that this was the physical plug and not the port for it), rewired the fan header and did the ERC checks.
Along with that, I realized that the m.2 slot was not a slot, it was actually a male header to go into a m.2 slot. So, I had to find a new footprint.
There is also an issue with the GND plane. For some reason all of the GND pins say they are +5V. I looked and I couldn’t find any place where they connect so that might be a good 2 hours of my next timelapse just trying to debug that…
DEVLOG 2:
At this point I started wiring up all of the internal and external headers and ports including
I still want to wire up a few things like a 3.5 mm audio jack.
DEVLOG 1:
I placed the CM5 chip symbol down and the USBC port to power it. Then I proceeded to try and make a voltage regulator/buck converter to make the power input always 5V 5A.
But then I realized that USBC already delivered 5V and that I never had to regulate the voltage in the first place, and it is highly unlikely that anyone will accidentally input anything higher than 5A and if they input anything drastically low, the CM5 will just throw a low power error anyway.
