Hello!
This was my first time dealing with API keys and I’m happy to say I have learnt a lot from this project! It’s a simple website designed to mimic a new tab with a little twist. The background of the website is NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day and is saved onto local storage for faster loading times. Through my portfolio work I have developed a basic understanding of JavaScript, HTML and CSS so the learning curve wasn’t too bad. I’m overall happy with how it turned out and maybe I will revisit it sometime!

Devlog #002
Changes

Added search bar
Added dropdown menu to choose search engine (google, bing etc)
JPEG image now gets saved onto the local browser cache so reloading the page doesn’t send another API request (speeds up loading times)
This will be my final devlog before shipping. I’ve had a lot of fun with this project and learning API keys, maybe I’ll revisit this in the future!

Devlog #001
Finally got the website setup and now the background is the Astronomy Picture of the Day! This took a lot longer than I thought it would because I spent the majority of the time understanding the modules such as vite and node modules. Expect more frequent devlogs!
