I'm making this board, which is extremely customizable and is used to help old people learn the ways of technology. It also has built-in macro keys, an attachable rage-bait sensor that gives advice and cools you down, and a bunch of other stuff I plan to add.

Devlog #16

Hello guys! So, how is your day going? :happi: I realized that frequent devlogs might be confusing or annoying, so I set a limit for myself; Cant post a devlog unless I have 1 and a half hours logged. As you can see, this one has ~2 hr logged. So I can post this.

So what I did:

  • Finished up the PCB by adding spacebar balancers (Me No Like Wobbly Keys :grr: )
  • Made a cool thingy for the keyboard shell, like it has this triangular height-increasing thingy :wowzers:
  • Figured this out —–>:simplifcoder: <—– hover your cursor on this sticker
  • Made the entire thing look beautiful :aww:
  • Recovered my sleep schedule :yeahbaby:
  • Made a major fix in Onshape :onshape: where the actual frame wouldn’t fit in the shell
  • Added a watermark on all the parts (Except for the keycaps :duh: )

So thank y’all if you read all this :yayayayayay: , And pls do give suggestions. Always happy to improve :HACK_THE_CLUB:

Devlog #15

So guys! You all know I’ve been offline for a bunch of days, and for those who have been with me and supporting me ( @mersecske ) I have disappointed y’all  . But! I have been grinding, as you can see, this devlog is 6 hours!
So what I did all these days:

  • I completely redid the structure of the PCB, this time with a 6 mm gap between each key horizontally (longer keys not counted)
  • fixed a few bugs, from 392 DRC errors to… 376 errors :sad-cat-thumbs-up:
  • Made the frame for the keyboard in Onshape :onshape:
  • and got good grades (mostly)
  • Worsened my sleep schedule :criblub:
  • Now right-clicks everything to cancel it (doesn’t work :vanishing-3-2-246a: )

Welp, that’s it! Thank you if you’ve read all this, and please lmk any suggestions, always happy to improve!

As of today I made an awesome addition, an built in screen, so the next time your gaming and lose a match then slam your desk the screen turns on and shows a powerful message, like “Patience is a virtue” or sumin like that.
I’m also planning to add a speaker so it can talk to you, but lets see how that goes?

Devlog #13

So all these days I’ve been grinding, 5 mins a day, and now that exam week is over, I can come back to the project and work properly

What I have achieved in these few days:

  • Completed Gravity Falls seasons 1 and 2
  • Finished a cooler for laptops cuz sometimes they go brrrrrrrrrrrr
  • Started on the frame of the keyboard (Biggest challenge yet…)
  • Made an armrest… Wrist-rest? (Trademark Pending)
  • Summoned coffee and ruined my sleep schedule.

This is gonna be a longer-than-usual devlog cuz it’s been updated over a period of time, not all at once

Also, this cooler I’m working on is like kinda rudimentary uses wires instead of PCBs, but I think PCBs are overkill for the cooler.
The frame for the keyboard part isn’t going so well, but shoutout @mersecske for helping me!
Overall, I’m thinking of adding another gimongus addition to the keyboard and cooler set, and a magnetic built-in mouse. Like, you click a button, the bare mouse PCB comes out, then you snap off the parts of the mouse from the keyboard (or cooler haven’t decided yet), and then you assemble it in 5 mins; it’s a niche feature, but maybe it could help while travelling?
Who knows? LMK what y’all think abt this idea, Cyall byeeeeeeeee! :happi: :yay: :interesting-:

Sry guys, couldn’t do much today. Got exam rush, I’ll be doing this properly after the end of this month

So I made a frame for my keyboard, with built-in cloth so your greasy fingers don’t mess up the keyboard.

Devlog #10

As of today, I completed the following things :

  • Finished the PCB design
  • Left all the inevitable errors, realized that there is no way to fix them rn :(
  • Started on the 3D modelling part
  • Made a sick edit 🔥

Lowk today was kinda productive; also made a fire edit on the rec below. The 3D model looks better in Onshape than Tinkercad.
Pls do help me out in the comments; the DRC errors are quite annoying. I think there is another way to fix them, so I left them, but if you know anything, do let me know abt it, always looking for improvements.

Also, one final thing: I’ll probably be reducing the amount of time I work on this project, cuz I got some other stuff going around and won’t be completely free until the end of this month.

Cyall, bye homies :yay: :happi:

As of today, I completed the following tasks :

  • Finished connecting the columns to the Microcontroller
  • Finished connecting the rows the Microcontroller
  • Completed the basic wiring of the PCB, and fixed a clearence error

Things to do tmrw:

  • Fix the rest of the 392 DRC errors :cryign:
  • Start the 3D modelling phase (Maybe? My hopes aren’t up cuz of the errors :sobson: )

Today was comparatively better than tmrw (cuz ik how it’s gonna be, i’m lowk cooked :vanishing-1-3-fb3e: and now the sticker isn’t showing up :Sadly-no: ). As always, I’d love some feedback, comments on the timelapse, and the work, I’m always looking for things to improve. Bye Cyall :yay:

As of today, completed;

  • connecting all the diodes the the hotswaps.
  • connecting some of the columns to the microchips.

Quite an exhilarating day actually, although a difficult part was finished, the thing felt too repetive and strained my hand a lot, but I worked for 1 hr then ended the timelapse. My goal is to to work everyday for only an hour, Because think any session that has 4 hrs of work burns me out, leaving me tired for at least an hour and a half(Which i use by doomscrolling). Anyways that’s it for today, as always I would hear yall’s suggestions, I’d love to know what I can improve :happi: :hmmmmm:

Devlog #7

Today, I guess I could say that I have completed half of the PCB designing stage. I used my recently found knowledge about matrices and implemented them for the columns and rows, then immediately messed up, so I fixed up the columns part, then left the rows part for tmrw, as I can only work for 1Hr a day without firing up and losing all productivity (I’m not lazy, just sick :sobson: ).

Tmrw ima fix the rows part (Which I messed up) and maybe move on to 3D designing, Pls do leave comments, I would love how you guys might react to or give suggestions to my project/devlogs. :yay: :happi:

Hola, mi amigo! I looked through my PCB design, then realized “This isn’t going to work.” So I used my brain, then started over with the basic format, where each key should be.
The improvements I made today:

  • Re-designed the basic structure of the keyboard.
  • learnt how to connect the diodes properly.
  • Most imp: don’t do stuff when you’re sick and have a fever, it will reduce productivity.

As of today, I have completed my basic positions for the keys, it was quite confusing, yet I pushed through, after this everything should be smooth sailing, this was quite challenging, but who doesnt love a challenge? if you have any suggestions, please look at my timelapse, and help me out

Well, I think I almost completed the schematic, it was quite hard, but I’m pushing through it. Someone buy me a 3000$ PC, my laptop is lagging
