Dev Log 1

I’ve made a lot of progress on the robot, but I also ran into several design challenges.

The first issue was the base size. My initial design had a diameter of 10 cm, which turned out to be too small, so I bumped it up to 14 cm and reprinted the part.

The second problem was the servo mount. It was designed with almost no clearance, making it too tight to fit the servo for me. (I asked my dad and he got it in but now I can’t get it out) I updated the design to provide the proper fit so I can put it in and take it out, which required another reprint.

The biggest issue was with the servo alignment. I had centered the housing instead of the servo output shaft, which caused the joint to move about 1 cm to the side and the top plate did not like that. After redesigning the mount around the output shaft, everything lined up properly.

With those issues fixed, I finished the top section of the base and started designing the first joint. Right now, I’m working on routing the wires cleanly through the robot while also figuring out the best way to mount the servo without sacrificing the overall look of the design.
