Just finalized the overall case and pcb design (no more 90 degree bends). I might add chamfers and fillets to the case later on but for now I will focus on the firmware (which doesn’t look too complicated) The pins inside the case are to secure the pcb and the screws will be threaded directly into the plastic as I do not have the experience to install heat sets. The indentations are there to allow the pcb to sit flat inside because the solder headers need to be accounted for (I’m doing about 2-2.5mm).
Over the past few days, I’ve been refining my pcb design and also attempting to get an idea of what I want a case to look like before committing to a design. I also experimented with silkscreens and I find them to be a great way to personalize my very own PCB!
After going through the guide more, I decided to settle on a 2x3 macro with an OLED display which I believe to be a great size to prevent accidentally pressing the wrong key or pressing too many at the same time. Overall for my first time doing this I find it quite fun!
Joined hackclub today and the macropad project caught my eye. It was my first time using pcb designing software. I am still working on the case and figuring out how to use KiCad but so far so good!
