Devlog #7

SpaceviewOS now has the music player! Enjoy space ambience whilst taking notes or creating your todo list. Today I was actually bothered to do something because I really want to finish this project and see how it turns out. Anyhoo, the music player took way too long to implement, so I hope you enjoy!

Updates

• Music Player has been added (the vision was real it looks exactly how I pictured it I guess it wasn’t a complete waste of time making concept board)
  • The music player can play 6 new songs (featuring Interstellar’s Cornfield Chase, composed by Hans Zimmer)
• Small aesthetic fixes for colour and size consistency
• Small tweaks to code (deleting obsolete parts of code and finding ways to make the code more efficient because it’s getting laggy now…)

Todo

• I’ll be making the stopwatch/timer application next because it’s easy (I presume it’s easy, and it’s probably easier than everything else to do)
• More applications (Calendar, Canvas, Analytics, Background/style customiser)

I know I post way too much compared to other projects so maybe I’ll keep to posting every 2 days or every big update I make. Anyhow, I’ve resolved to sleeping earlier so I can wake up earlier without feeling too tired (more time to code???).

Devlog #6

Hey guys, today I was actually bothered to code (not really, just had nothing to do again 😭)! Now the notepad is working and you can type in it.

Currently, you only have 1 tab for the notes, should I add more tabs (eg. you can have different sections of notes)? Also I’m thinking of adding formatting (eg. you can make text bold, make it a heading/subheading/body, etc) but I’m not bothered to code and none of yall are probably gonna use it.

Updates

• Added the Notepad (you can now type and add notes in the notepad)
• Added Music Player icon
• Made the welcome banner slightly smaller so it doesn’t take up too much of the screen
• Made the clock slightly smaller as well

Todo

• Add Music Player
• Add Stopwatch/Timer next
• All other applications

Devlog #5

Sorry it’s been so long since I last posted 😭, I’ve been caught up in so much schoolwork and also I was just not bothered to code 😔. But today I finished all my schoolwork and had nothing else to do, so the next logical thing was to do with my free time was to doomscroll code.

So I worked really hard and basically did nothing added new features and tweaked the formatting by enslaving AI to kill the polar bears🐻‍❄️🥺.

Updates

• Todo list now collapsible by pressing the x button in the corner
• Todo list can be opened through the todo list icon button
• If your name is too long, then it starts a new line instead of flowing onto the time (but why would you make your name that long 😭😭?)
• Made the app icons for all other features I’m planning on implementing

(*edit: deleted the app icon name because it doesn’t look right, ykwim?)

Devlog 4

Small Update

• There’s a functioning clock (I had to copy code from online but now its flagging me for stealing code from Github or something)
• Fixed the minor issue where if you drag the notes bar under the welcome box it is layered on top so you can grab it back out without it being stuck (forgot there was the z-index factor)

Also I looked at a bunch of other WebOS designs on my feed and I realised that I probably should have made the tabs closeable and openable which collapse into mini app icons but I just came back from camp and I’m not bothered to do that right now

Anyhow the OS is currently looking pretty empty I’ll make sure to lock in tomorrow (although I’ll probably be at Hyde Park or RBG because Road of Legends PoGo is finally starting)

Problems for tomorrow

• Adding calming space ambience
• Make the apps collapsable
  • I want to make it so that when you click the clock in the top corner it opens up into a larger calendar which you can save dates on and there and you can set reminders but I’ll probably have to search up how to do this too)
  • I’ll also make it so that you can edit your name if you entered something wrong in the beginning screen
• Get more raid passes for PoGo

SpaceView AmbienceOS Updates

New features

• Working ‘enter button’
  • If you don’t enter a name it sets your user to ‘captain’
• Functioning todo list (is it todo or to do?)
  • Todo list can be dragged around
  • Scroll button on the side so the list doesn’t overflow and get too large

Minor Notes

• If you drag the todo list behind the ‘welcome aboard, user’ then you cant take it back out because its under the welcome box so ill make it so that its the top layer when you drag it on top
• Minor aesthetic tweaks

Upgraded the design and now buttons work

What to add

• Calendar

Finished the starting page, just doing some art for the background now (also trying to change the font because I don’t like the sharp ariel-type font but I’m struggling to connect google fonts)
