The AI Tennis Ball Picker!

This is a tennis ball picker, fueled by AI to maneuver the court and collect tennis balls. It does not move outside the specified court area, declared by cones that go on the corners to track the robot and prevent it from erratically moving. These cones use UWB (Ultra-Wide Band) technology for tracking purposes, which send signals so fast (almost at the speed of light) that they do not disturb commercial frequencies (such as news channels)! Routed the PCB!

What was done

Routing the PCB might be tedious, but it’s worth it; I’m finally done with the PCB!!!

That took around four days, but I was able to create, arrange the parts, route the PCB, and polish up the PCB! The screenshot below shows this exactly, with the 3D model and the footprint editor.

Sure, I was able to finish the PCB, but there were hardships along the way. Here’s the hardships I faced:

  1. Many times, I had isolated copper islands in my PCB, rendering the grounded copper plate useless. This made me change my PCB by converting some of the wires to be on the opposite layer (F.Cu to B.Cu and vice versa). Overall, these isolated copper islands took 10 minutes to fix.

  2. In many cases (especially while routing the USB TYPE-C VBUS), I was forced to changes wires to be longer than they should have. This was due to the fact that many wires were concentrated in a small area, forcing me to provide more space for them. Even when I tried using vias to go BENEATH the components, the vias did not have enough clearance! This took almost 15 minutes to fix!

In all, I spent around 1 hour routing the PCB!
