Fishpad

Going to ship! I worked on firmware using QMK and added support for VIA - the firmware is not fully done, but I plan to edit the macros and underglow with VIA. In the meantime, I coded a few macros for gaming and art that I might use later.

I think the cad is almost done! I ended up making the fish’s face round which looks… interesting; I spent a lot of time struggling with loft lol. I also made the case more flat since there was a lot of extra space and added a usb cutout. (hopefully it works, i just went off of vibes for that tbh.) I might redo the rotary encoder knob next

cadding the plate and top!! i updated the pcb with the custom keycaps and made it a little bigger so there’s more space between the keys and the other stuff. lowkey looks kind of bad rn but i’m thinking of making the raised part with the oled round so it’s like a fish head. also not sure how the keycaps and encoder knob look - i might just end up using the keycaps that come in the hackpad kit :P

Made a bit of a goofy rotary encoder (also following the highway tutorial). I added an eye to the top cuz on the macropad itself it will go where the eye of the fish is. I also wrapped some text around it bc I think it could be a more fun way to improve grip? (i might change the text in the future cause i’m not sure what i want to write lmao)

honestly I have no idea how to continue the case for the hackpad so I made a fish scale-shaped key using highway’s key tutorial. I haven’t added any designs to the top since I’m not sure what each of the keys will be for yet, but I’ll probably do something interesting for the rotary encoder.

It’s starting to look more 3d! I had some fun figuring out how to draft and fillet and all that good stuff and also went on a quick side quest reviewing trigonometry to make the tail and fins taper to the same width 🥀

I’m starting the cad for the macropad case. Spent a lot of time reimporting the pcb model after making changes (i am not very experienced with cad lol) but I got a sketch for the bottom for now. Also, I have a journal.md in the repo for my pcb hours bc lookout wasn’t working at first
