Agent-agnostic desktop shell for CLI coding tools, Run OpenCode, Claude Code, and other CLI agents in a real desktop window instead of a bare terminal.

Ship #1 Pending review

I made Monoloth, my agent-agnostic desktop shell for CLI coding tools (OpenCode, Claude Code, Codex, and others) on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

It wraps CLI coding agents (like OpenCode and Claude Code) in a native desktop shell on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
I built it using Rust and Tauri V2

I focused on designing Monoloth to be highly customizable to feel like home for developers, while trying to combine the apps agentic coders use in their workflows inside one app, I implemented multiple tabs and split-view support to allow developers to work on multiple projects at the same time, I added the secondary terminal feature to allow developers to run terminal commands in the same app without opening a separate terminal window which defeats the goal of Monoloth. I’m working on adding support for viewing and editing files and inspecting git in Monoloth, under the feature “Side apps”.

Devlog: Side-apps in Monoloth (v2.4.0 beta)

I started developing the architecture for the side-apps feature in Monoloth, it would allow the user to navigate and edit files and inspect git all in the same app.

Next: file editor and git support for 2.4.0.

Devlog: Split-view terminals in Monoloth (v2.3.0)

Monoloth is my agent-agnostic desktop shell for CLI coding tools (OpenCode, Claude Code, Codex, and others) on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
This release was a big one: a full split-view system for the main terminal.

What shipped:

Split-view support for the main terminal. Open tabs with a plus button or Ctrl+T, and drag the tabs to the desired position to activate split-view.

The secondary terminal can now be moved instead of being locked to horizontal on the bottom side, now it can be dragged to any position.

Next: file editor and git support for 2.4.0.

Devlog: Multi-tab terminals in Monoloth (v2.2.0)

Monoloth is my agent-agnostic desktop shell for CLI coding tools (OpenCode, Claude Code, Codex, and others) on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
This release was the big one: a full multi-tab system for the main terminal.

What shipped:

Tabbed main terminal. Open tabs with a plus button or Ctrl+T, each one launches through a profile selector and keeps its own profile.

Startup keys and shortcuts can now be overridden per profile instead of editing the global config file.

Optional setting restores your active tabs on relaunch, per-tab profiles and all.

Animation pass. Tabs scale and fade in, closing tabs collapse so neighbors slide over, and everything respects reduced-motion preferences.

Headless secondary commands that terminate with their parent tab.

Next: split-view terminals for 2.3.0.
