MI-23 Devlog #1 - Settings App - Boot Screen

Development Log – June 13, 2026

Hey everyone, this project has been long in the making, and I haven’t posted here yet, but today I focused on improving the overall user experience and reliability of the MI-23.

New Features

• Added a Settings app.
• Added persistent settings so preferences are saved between launches.
• Added a startup boot screen.
• Added basic boot diagnostics to check that settings and storage are working correctly.

Improvements

• Settings now automatically load when the calculator starts.
• Invalid or missing settings are reset to safe defaults.
• Improved project structure to make future features easier to add.

Looking Ahead

Next steps include:

• Building a proper filesystem for apps and user data.
• Adding themes and more settings options.
• Expanding boot diagnostics and recovery tools.
• Continuing work on the graphing application.
