Nonprofit Website

Hearts for Elders Illinois is my very first officially published website, serving as the digital headquarters for a student-founded volunteer group dedicated to reducing social isolation among older adults in our communities by coordinating volunteer efforts, managing localized events like card-making, and sharing resources. Building my first official published project was honestly pretty tough, especially since I found myself completely unsatisfied with the UI at first and constantly revised it over and over again, which got pretty annoying but forced me to keep polishing. The hardest part by far was dealing with layout orientation and positioning, as getting elements to sit where I actually wanted them to on the screen took a ton of trial and error. I am currently using image placeholders for the event sections until our upcoming Father’s Day event, where I will grab real photos to swap in. The site is built using clean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, hosted with a custom domain at https://hearts4eldersillinois.com/, and the code is completely open-source at https://github.com/jovin-jijo/HeartsForElders where PRs are always appreciated if you want to help me improve the website further!
