So I’m resubmitting Keyey. I got some comments on my last submission and changed what needed to be changed and now am back!
Why is JLCPCB so expensive!!!! Im going to order the parts from LCSC then request funding for a soldering+hot air station and save over 50USD!!! Also I’m making the BOM to submit
I was able to fix Keyey!!!. So I switched from the Rp2350b to the Rp2040 so that I can use QMK configurator. I made the BOM. Next is to finish the my BOM to request funding and Building the README.
My not doing research before designing is coming back to bite me in the back. QMK doesn’t support the Rp2350. Now I have 2 options: Learn how to use ZMK instead of QMK or redesign the board for the Rp2040. I might take the 2nd option.(I added a little Brushbuddy from my favorite manga/anime WHA cause why not)
So i made the empty space as high as the wall so it wouldn’t look out of place. Increased the hole for the EC11 on the plate and made sure there was a 0.5-1mm between the plate and other moving components
Finished fixing errors of the plate and added the stab’s cad file. Next is to add the key caps file and then fill in the top whole of the plate.
So the keyboard is looking good. I just need to change the position of some mounting holes on the pcb. Which is a headaches because Onshape’s update feature don’t really work for me so I have to import everything into a new doc:((
Made the slot for the usb-c connector and added a circle around the hole for the QSPI-SS. Next is to make the case and put it all together
I made mounting holes on the case so that it can fit threaded insert also I made that so the keyboard has a natural tilt( gonna do some research on what angle to use). But at the moment I cant make a hole for the usbc connector. someone send help:/
Finished wiring everything. Made copper fill zones. The nightmare is over!!. Now I uploaded the 3d files of the components to kicad and uploaded the keyboard to Onshape. Next steps are to design the case, and add something on the silkscreen for fun!
I finished wiring the columns and rows and started wiring the led chain. I’M SO DUMBBBB!!! I PUT THE LEDS IN THE WRONG ORDER SO I SPENT 1 HOUR REARANGING!!!!
I finished the placement of the parts and have started routing
So since this is going to be my first keyboard i’ve decided to ditch the bluetooth and battery idea. And i’ve started placing the capacitor for the sk6812 and the diode for the switches
I finished the wiring for the TP4056 and got the TPS2115APWR as a power switcher. I also got 84 sk6811-minie leds that im gonna put on the bottom sidw of the board
I wired up the RP2350B according to the RP2350 hardware design guide and finished wiring the TP4056 and figuring out how MOSFETs work to design a system to shut off battery power when usb is inserted.
So I’ve decided to use the RP2350B instead of the Pico 2 because then I have space for the usb connector without the keyboard getting too big and looking funny.
I wired up the pico 2W to a usbc connector (through the TP2, TP3 pins on the bottom of the pico) I also pulled the Ec11 and in the process of researching and wiring the TP4056 battery charger. The DNP is because I don’t know beforehand which side of the JST connector is GND and which is 4.2V, so I’m gonna leave 4 footprint and bridge them when I get the battery
