LunarX Rev 1.0 — Wi-Fi Controlled Smart Rover
LunarX Rev 1.0 is a six-wheel robotic rover powered by an ESP8266 NodeMCU. It combines Wi-Fi-based movement, obstacle detection, environmental monitoring, and soil moisture sensing in one robotics project.
Features
- Wi-Fi-based movement: forward, backward, left, right, and stop.
- Ultrasonic obstacle detection to prevent forward movement when an obstacle is too close.
- DHT11 sensor for temperature and humidity monitoring.
- Soil moisture monitoring using an analog sensor.
- Servo-operated soil probe that lowers for measurements and retracts when not in use.
- Browser-based dashboard for viewing sensor readings and rover information.
Challenges and What I Learned
Building LunarX involved troubleshooting motor control, balancing movement across six wheels, configuring ESP8266 pins, integrating multiple sensors, and developing a web-based interface. I learned more about embedded programming, electronics, sensor integration, Wi-Fi communication, and debugging hardware-software interactions.
What I’m Proud Of
I’m proud to bring multiple robotics features together in one working platform. LunarX represents my progress in building practical robotics systems and combining hardware with software.
How to Test
Visit the public LunarX Rev 1.0 demo website to explore the interface and available controls. If the demo is running in simulation mode, sensor values and movement are simulated and do not control the physical rover.
