Finished the Z axis mounts for the bed. They have ball joints (3d printed for cost saving) so the bed cam better change orientation for auto leveling and stuff. Only the electronics to go - FINAL STRETCH before ship!!!1!
Added mouting points to the bed and made the PEI plate. The only thing left to do is make the plastic mounting to the leadscrews. Last few steps before moving on from CAD. I am really excited to bring this project closer to reality!
Created the bed which I am going to get machined from aluminum as well as started to add heaters to it.
Started work on the Z-axis by placing the rails on the cage and putting the motors in their positions.
Finally finished the gantry on the eight day. Next thing on the list is the z axis along with the bed.
Finished the toolhead by adding mounting for two radial fans and ducts for those fans. Tomorrow will hopefully be the last day of work on the gantry.
Created a simple mounting bracket for the top screws of the 40mm fan and a radial fan on the side (duct for print cooling will be made later).
Added mount points for a 40mm fan on the x carriage and started work on mounting my x-axis pipe on the xy joints.
Couldn’t do a lot today. Just finalised the mount point of the hotend to the x carriage.
Measured my pipe to use for the X-Axis and started work on the hotend mount which I’m going to get machined from aluminum to be more stable, less breakable and more reusable.
Finished the right idler and both the started both the x-axis mounts. Just need to figure out what kind of pipe i’m going to use instead of makerbeam on the x-axis (it needs to be light).
Did some more work on my gantry. I made the right motor mount and expanded the footprint of the belt to span my entire movement area (spoiler - it’s gonna be BIG).
Updated the github to be compliant with Hackpad folder structure and naming convention and other rules.
Adapted left belt idler and driver from the Voron Trident onto my cage. That’s about it…
Added mounts for the extruder and filament spool. Attached hinges on the front wall of the cage so it can actually be opened. Also overhauled the entire cage to use a caliber of aluminum pipe i actually have.
Finished all requirements to ship. Made the README and posted everything on github. Also tried to write the code for the macropad.
Finished the case design for my custom CAD controller made with Hackpad! Placed a rotary encoder on top of the joystick to add zoom control. Onwards to the firmware!
Started to create my custom CAD controller using the Hackpad tutorial. Added a joystick and 5 pins for an external rotary encoder.
Built a simple aluminum pipe enclosure for the 3d printer and currently trying to adapt Voron Trident parts to form my corexy gantry. Enclosure uses acrylic sheets which will be cut to size. Hinges to be added for the from when i get the specific dimensions of pipe I will be working with.
