I made a racing game in google sheets where you race against 4 computer cars to reach the finish line. You can customize a difficulty, change your car’s color, hit boost tiles and oil slicks , and track wins losses and best record.
It was definitely a challenge, sheets had no keyboard controls, so I built a sidebar that looks for arrow keys being pressed. I used cells as pixels, fixed bugs when cars duplicated and disappeared from too many requests when you click the button too fast, and tracked soooooo many typos.
But I’m proud because this was my first time using VS Code ( or coding at all for that matter ), Git, and GitHub, and I ended up with a full working game that inspire me to work on new projects.
How to test:
Open the demo link and make a copy
Inside the copy, at the top, click Racer then click Open Controls and allow permissions
Click inside the sidebar, press R to start, then right arrow to drive
