Please be a little patient while testing the 3D parts of the website

What did you make?

I made “BookForSpace”, a futuristic space travel booking website set in 2060. I wanted to make it feel a bit like a retro sci-fi game, so I used a blocky voxel style with neon colors.

You can explore different planets, look at space suits and spaceships in 3D, check space weather, and also book a trip around the solar system. It also gives you a boarding pass after booking.

What was challenging?

The hardest part was probably getting the “3D VR Cockpit” working properly. At first the iframe was just sitting in a small corner instead of taking the full screen.

I also had to spend quite some time getting the .glb 3D models to load properly and making sure the different models don’t get repeated.

Another thing was making the voxel/block style look good without making the whole website look too childish. I wanted it to still feel like a futuristic space website.

What am I proud of?

My favorite part is the “3D VR Space Hangar”. You can rotate, zoom and move around the space suits, shuttle and other equipment directly from the browser.

I also liked making the solar system orbit animation and the booking system. After booking a trip, it creates a boarding pass which makes it feel more like an actual space travel website.

How can you test it?

You can just open index.html in a browser.

Try clicking on the “3D VR Cockpit” or open something from the “Spacecraft & Gear Hangar” and play around with the 3D models.

You can also click “Reserve Flight” on one of the planets and go through the booking steps to generate a boarding pass.

That’s basically it, have fun exploring 🚀
