Hey everyone, Asad here! 👋
Check it out here at relicos.vercel.app/os
I recently saw the Web OS idea in the Stardance missions section and it immediately clicked. I’ve always wanted to build one, so I figured there’s no better time than now.
🎨 The Vision: Stealing the Best Designs
Initially, I thought about building a heavily riced, Arch Linux-style WebOS. But then I thought: if I’m building this from scratch, why limit myself? Why not just steal the best design language from every OS out there?
Right now, the aesthetic is a beautiful mashup
From macOS, I Snagged the classic window traffic lights and the sleek Spotlight search functionality.
From Arch Linux, Implementing a clean, rice-inspired Waybar for the status panel.
🛠️ Current Progress (The MVP)
The project just kicked off, so nothing is fine-tuned or heavily configured yet. It is a pure Minimum Viable Product (MVP) to get the core architecture up and running.
I’ve already built out a few baseline apps to test the environment:
🎵 Music Player
🧮 Calculator
🎯 The X-Factor: Deep Game Integration
Standard apps like calculators are cool, but they aren’t the specialty of RelicOS.
The main feature I’m currently scheming up is direct itch.io web game integration. I want to pull custom indie web games and run them seamlessly inside the OS environment as native-feeling applications.
🌐 Once Again, check out the Live Demo!
It’s early days, but you can already play around with the live environment here:

There is a lot left to do, code to clean up, and features to rice out. This is just the beginning of the journey.
Here are some thoughts i have of what i should add next:
1- Glass Ui
2- Games
3- Retro pixel art logos and icons
4- live or ai generated wallpapers ( user can prompt ai to generate wallpaper of choice, its a feature not pre configured wallpapers generated by ai)
5- Youtube and Browser inside as apps
Let me know what you think or what features I should steal next! 🚀
