Time for Steno 0.14 – Smarter Rebuilds

This is a relatively small release, especially compared to 0.13, as the only major changes being:

• Builds track page dependencies, and steno dev rebuilds only affected pages.
• Errors include clearer context and recovery guidance.
• Added incremental-build tests and benchmarks, and removed redundant tests.

The whole point of it is to have somewhat “smarter” rebuilds, as mentioned in the title; refreshing dependences only when necessary.

Other then that, I have also refreshed Steno’s update to ensure we show all the plugins available.

Fixed a few small issues around the codebase to make sure it’s ready for release.

Also bumped it to the newer version of Steno from 0.12 to 0.13; along side other dependency packages.

I’ve decided to release the first version of Steno in over a month. Meet Steno 0.3!

This version focuses on the stability of the foundations of Steno.

More importantly, the biggest change is the change of modularity inside Steno. I decided to separate the core and tau into two different packages, so we lay the foundation for a future new project that is similar to Steno.

At the same time, I have made many different changes across the base, which can include making themes more composable and adding stronger release checks around the packages people actually install.

All these changes and many, many more small fixes ensure the stability and maturation of this project.

Redesigned and ported to Steno!

As mentioned, initially, Aplos was a theme for VitePress. For a while, I wanted to port it to my personal SSG, Steno.

While doing so, I’ve made significant changes to the design, making it much more “modern” and featuring a dynamic navigation island, as seen.

I’ve also worked on several animations for the island, so I hope it looks nice!!

Since we got 2 releases in this devlog; im not going to include a list like i usually do, I’ll just talk about the highlights.

So first of all both of these releases are focused on stabilization; no shiny new features, but on small improvements that improve the quality, and of course bug fixes. We had tau 0.9 where we brought comments, {#let} bindings, {:else} branches for {#each}, component children, whitespace control, and async function/filter calls, we had hashed CSS/JS, dev server improvements FINALLY ** froze and documented the public api fully**, added plugins/themes scaffolding, abd so so so much more of such stuff all across the codebase.

Oh and I also made more plugins eheheh and made a post oh hackernews, scary stuff
