First devlog of my project, WAAAGH!! OZ, a web os based around warhammer 40k orks
I choose this project because i’m just a big warhammer fan, particularly fan of the orks.
I never saw someone making an ork based os, so i decided to do it myself.
an actual os would have been extreamely complicated for me alone, so i opted for a web os.
In this first 4 hours of developement, i started by creating the desktop, with a welcome screen, written in orkish language (everything in this os will be written like this).
follolwing that, i created the toolbar with various applications i’m going to develop.
in the toolbar, there’s one of the core features of the os: the clock doesn’t tell time normally, because orks can’t count. Instead, after starting from the local date, it begins decelerating, accelerating, stopping all of a sudden and starting randomly, numbers change randomly, in short, chaotic like the orks.
with that made, i passed the last 2 hours logged trying to understand how to make the window move, which i ultimately did.
Features planned for this project:
-Da numba-box, a calculator app which always gives wrong results, because orks can’t count
-WAAAGH! Mode, a global chaos toggle that shakes everything
-Squiggey, an assistant which gives always bad advices
-a dedicated virtual file system
-More draggable windows
