i COMPLETELY changed the design of my OS to be full on undertale

I found an amazing undertale css pack by chance and loved it so much so i went from wow blue aesthetic to undertale yay. I still have some customization to do

I changed the close button to a heart and when you hover on it it becomes a broken heart im really proud of that

I’m also almost done with the to do app the tasks are just not overflowing the way I want them to

new ideas:

  • music player to play undertale songs
  • map to make wallpaper change based on map location
  • have a preload screen that makes you choose your location and choose character

Countdown app

I added a countdown app/widget for some motivation so you can have something to look forward to! The CSS is definitely lacking so I will work on it once im done with JS.
It was a bit hard to convert every input and change precision but I figured it out thanks to W3S.

I still need to:

  • Show a list of the cooldowns in the main window and make them editable and deleteable
  • Make the new window closeable & pinnable
  • Make the time input optionnal
  • Make an icon for the app
  • Find a way to save changes? (maybe)

First feature done

My notes app is now cooler:

  • Footprints instead of a text based sidebar
  • Links open in new tab
  • Upon first opening of the app, only footprints show on a grassy field
  • Animations on footprints and sidebar after clicking the first footprint

Things to add after finishing other features:

  • More notes content
  • A way to go back to the grassy field

To work on next

  • More animations
  • Gamify Skeletale app

Devlog

My side bar is now a menu? I made it so that content will only show after clicking on the footsteps (not yet but that’s the goal).
For that, I need to write a new function in Java Script and add a blue grassy background to match with the cloudy background.
My animations are now smoother as I added transitions and larger margins so that the icons getting bigger don’t impede on the other ones.
I also added hover text so that we can know which story is selected when hovering on each footstep.

WebOS 2

It’s been a month since I didn’t work on this so I forgot how to code a little. Looking at my old code is helping me remember the coding though.

First new feature (Working on this)

As my first new feature, I am revamping my True Notes app side bar. I want to change to to footsteps I can click on. As of now, I only imported the image and made the footprints appear for each entry.
I have yet to make them as a path, center them and just have a better general layout.

Second new feature

I want to have hover animations. Eg if I hover on the footprints they get bigger, hovering on an app would change the top bar of the window header, etc.

Third feature

I haven’t really thought about it yet, either I’ll make my Skeletale app more interactive by changing back and next buttons to directly clicking on the skeleton either I will make a new app

Firmware

I finished my case so I have been trying to figure out how to do the firmware on QMK, so I thought about switching to KMK since I already know how to code in Python. In the end I just stuck with QMK since I was already almost done. Here is my layout:

Case

I have been working on Onshape to make the case. Getting famiiliar with the platform took a long time before I could do something.

I finished the case but I should adjust the USB port, it can be done later.

I had to adjust it because I figured that I had flipped XIAO on my PCB but didn’t do it on my 3D model so I wasted a little bit of time.

Right now my switches are in place but there still is a strange gap between the key holes and the switches so I have to fix that.

I also have to add the LED screen in the assembly.

I think I will be done after that!

I didn’t spend too much time on styling since it has fixed payout but I added background colors for the body, navigation bar and for each section. I also changed the font. For each section, I also have rounded solid borders

I just finished my first WebOS. It has a top bar, welcome window and two apps. All the windows are draggable and closable, and both of the apps are representative of me :D One is about the true crimes I enjoy and the other one is a presentation of me through a skeleton.
I had zero experience in website coding until I started the project, I am very proud of the result!

Almost done with my second app

  • My second app is an anatomical map of myself inspired by Undertale (not really, it’s just a pixelized skeleton). I just really like anatomy in general so I thought this would represent me well. I assigned a part of myself to many bones, the text is just placeholder right now, I will develop on it later.
-I added back and next buttons for navigation to make it simpler than a side bar, It also takes less space
  • I finished my first app a while ago but I do want to change the layout in WebOS 2 (have some art & a better side bar)

Right now my goals for tomorrow are to:

  • Put the back&next buttons inside the window
  • Hide the skeleton image on the first tab of the app
  • Zoom on each bone for each body part or have a heart cursor that goes in each body part like in Undertale
  • Finish the content

I finished part 4, it took me a while to get it to work so I will focus on the aesthetic after i finish part 5.
My notes app will show my thoughts about some true crime stories. My next app is going to be Undertale related I hope.

I’m done with part 3!
Now I have:

  • A pretty header
  • A pretty background
  • A CSS file with my window and window header designs that I will be able to use for my next windows.
  • Draggable windows that can close (but will completely disappear, so I have to make a “minimize” button to be able to open it later)
  • An open button that’s not very useful and doesn’t really work.

I think I’m done we ith the PCB, I moved the XIAO so that it wouldn’t bother the oled display while keeping the OLED centered.
For the OLED dimensions I downloaded the footprint from the ressources page, I didn’t see it before.
