Devlog #3: All Done! I finally finished my website. Compare it to when we just started, and it is thousands of miles better. I learned a lot about coding in HTML and CSS and how websites function. Here is a picture of the finished product:
Devlog #2: More tutorials, and now here’s some sick CSS to make the website look a bit decent. Obviously, it’s a bit cumbersome to keep deploying it to GitHub Pages every time I make changes, but for an hour of work, I think it turned out really well, and I’m satisfied so far. It features a repeating stripe pattern I created in Affinity Designer, a revamped navigation bar, and a hero section that introduces visitors to my website. It continues the trend of adding funny placeholder stock images, which is the website’s theme. I also added a disclosure banner at the top to prevent confusion. I plan to expand the website’s actual content (ie, the important stuff) by the next devlog.
Devlog #1: Finally got hackatime to work because Visual Studio Code didn’t count my hours (yay!). I got it set up in GitHub Codespaces and transferred the code from my computer to Codespaces, as well as committing it to the GitHub repo. For the actual stuff, I started learning how to create a website! I used the Stardancee guide to learn the basics and how to get started, and watched a few YouTube tutorials on HTML basics. I also learned how CSS works, and I started giving my website some personality. Obviously, there’s a lot of placeholder content, but it should be going together soon!
