I made patio light hooks that don’t require any drilling to attach. The design came after a problem I had with adhesive strip clips not holding well due to the tension in the string lights. With this clip, it should be able to bear the tension and hold up the string lights. The most difficult thing about this project was setting up GitHub for the first time and learning how to reference images and screenshots. This is my first ship, so I know that there will be problems that will need fixing. However, I’m glad that I was able to post a simple project that introduced me to the process of building on stardance and hopefully will lead to more complex projects. In the off-chance that someone wants to use this project, it should just be known that the dimensions will probably have to change for each component that you have (patio plank width and wire diameter). I found that a tolerance of 5 thou was about right for me and led to a near press fit for both the wire and the patio plank.

First V1 test successful, the print failed about 75% through because of a spool error, but it didn’t affect the usability. Possible iterations for V2 might include tighter tolerance or shortening the clip width.

Patio Light Hooks - In this devlog, being my first, I wanted to test out the lapse recording feature as well as make an initial design sketch and 3D CAD model. The sketch features some of the necessary dimensions I needed to consider when making the hook, and the CAD model reflects the design decisions. I accidentally recorded the wrong tab for the CAD model and couldn’t find a way to edit the footage or rerecord. So I’ll attach the progress I made so far and fix the error during the rest of the process.

I finished building the heating component for the Upcycler today! I connected the ceramic heater to the MOSFET module, and I inserted both the heater and the thermistor into the heat block. I secured the heat block onto the L-Bracket using an adapted 0.4mm nozzle (I expanded it to 1/16in). The entire physical build for the Upcycler is complete! I will work on an improved code now!
