Started Wiring MCU

I started on the MCU wiring, including adding in the buttons and crystals needed for it. I also added in the jst connecters for the ESC and camera (I decided to add it in).

Connected MCU

I connected the MCU to all of my peripherals, not wired yet though. I decided to only use one DIO pin from LoRa, I might use more later but for now only 1. Now, I have to wire this in KiCad along with the remaining few components.

Wired GPS

I finished wiring the GPS component, including adding in a connection for an active antenna, which the GPS needs. Next, I will either wire the MCU or LoRa module. I still have to figure out weather I want this to be able to use a camera.

Finished wiring MicroSD and Magnetometer

I finished wiring two more important components of the flight controller. Now, it’s time to work on the bigger components like GPS, LoRa, and MCU.

Finished wiring more components

I finally finished all of the power components with the wiring of the 3.3V buck. I also started out on wiring the sensors by wiring the barometer and IMU. Next, I’ll finish wiring all of the sensors and wok a little bit on LoRa and GPS.

Finished wiring 5V buck-boost

I finished the wiring for the next part, which is the 5V buck-boost. I also added in the correct parts for the inductors because they needed different models.

Finished wiring

I finished the wiring for the battery charger and I completed my research on ESC’s and how to integrate them into my current design. Next, I will wire the remaining components as fast as possible because I want to move on.

First steps

I started out on planning the flight controller, I got the basic parts but I still need to plan out the whole architecture a little bit more. I also started out wiring a few of the parts.

New and improved BOLT-16 CPU

I made a custom CPU, emulator, compiler, and assembly language.

Challenges

The hardest part was making sure all of the systems work together. This includes the clock timings and wiring.

What I’m proud of

I’m really proud of completing such a big and ambitious project. It took a lot of work (the hours are not correct bc I started logging really late).

What’s new

I added a new screen component and the ability to draw things on that screen. This took a lot of time.

Finished screen!

I finally finsished making the screen compnent. It finally works in logisim now. Turns out the problem was my compiler bc it wasn’t compiling the RGB correctly, there were also a few small issues in the circuit.

Added screen and drawing to emulator

I added a screen component to the emulator and allowed drawing to it. I also added an example code that draws a rectangle and square.

I still have to test it for Logisim, I added it to the compiler but I know something is going to go wrong and I don’t want to debug for hours today.

Added a screen

I added a screen component to my project because I wanted a way to see the CPU in action without looking at the vague data memory.

I still have to test it and integrate it into my assembly language and compiler.

I made a SimpleOS for the WebOS challenge. The most challenging part of this project was the notes app (because it took a log time to style properly) and the weather app (because I had to connect it to an API). I’m really proud of this project because I know barely any HTML/CSS/JS and I was still able to build something pretty clean and coherent. Try it out yourself at the link below!

Music app

I added a music app with 5 different choices of music (all instrumental because they were they only free downloads I could find). I’m going to ship now!

Worked on feedback!

  • Thanks for the feedback! I worked on some of it like a thoughtful comment which pointed out a little bug in my label storage and jump code. (I stored labels with $ but looked them up without $). This also led me to finding out another bug where my code didn’t actually start at label $start. That was a 5-second fix.

  • I also worked on the README.md after recieving feedback about it.

  • I plan to work on some more feedback later (specifically updating my website UI). I thought it was fine because I have barely any experience with JS/HTML/CSS, but there’s no excuse for bad UI.

PS - I also added comment functionality to my Assembly

New app!

I just made a timer app. I couldn’t think of any ideas for apps so I just went to some default smartphone apps, and ended up choosing a timer. If you have any ideas, I’m open to them. Just comment on this devlog.

I made a Simple WebOS. The theme is to keep it simple. It has a simple notes app, a simple date and time, and a simple weather app. The most challenging thing for me in this project was learning HTML/CSS/JS. I have had barely any experience with those in the past (like a few hours), so this project really helped me learn new things. I am most proud of the weather app because I had to connect it to an API.
