So I started this project a month or two ago. Meepcoin was originally supposed to be a quickie fork of Monero (a lesser known privacy coin with about 10 billion USD marketcap). I was experimenting with cryptography and crypto with all the time I had during the summer. Monero was nice enough to be open source, so I could check out all their code on github. I downloaded it and started messing around, and I was like ‘hey, it can’t possibly be that hard, right?’ (hint hint, i was horribly wrong).I named it after a random fun word: meep. Like it just sounds goofy and weird. But the thing about crypto is the mining—and if it requires complex 10k+ equipment, nobody will do it.That’s why I based it off of monero. Monero is like one of the only cpu minable (meaning like a normal computer can mine it) coins out there. So no expensive crypto mining or gpus needed. I  wanted to design a system that took this even further. Something that you can mine out of a browser: I wanted to make it so that you can mine out of Google. Usually this is impossible because browsers don’t get a lot of compute power. That’s why monero’s platform, Xmrig, triggers a bunch of malware warnings—because its saying”‘oh hi there macos/windows, I’ll skip you and directly tell the cpu to do a bunch of weird math equations–totally not what viruses also do.” That makes it unaccessible. Also like, software is hard and why not just go on a website?This log is way too long, I’ll explain the rest later.(Don’t mind the image, I’ll do more updates, but there won’t be much to show in my stage, its all just like boring code)At least you know my goal though. I’m like 60-70% (haha funny number) there already. Hopefully I can finish on Stardance.
