I built F1 BLARE, a custom alarm clock inspired by Formula 1. Instead of making a regular alarm clock, I wanted to combine electronics, PCB design, programming, and 3D modelling into something that looks like an actual F1 car.
The project uses a Seeed XIAO ESP32-C3, a 2.25” TFT display, four mechanical switches, and a 3.3V piezo buzzer, all connected through a custom PCB that I designed in KiCad. The display shows the current time and has separate screens for three different alarms.
The four buttons are used to switch between screens, increase/decrease alarm times, set alarms, and stop the alarm when it rings. I’m also designing a 3D printed F1 car body that sits on top of the clock’s base, with the display and buttons integrated into the base.
This project has been a great way for me to learn PCB design, soldering, ESP32 firmware, KiCad, electronics, and CAD, while building something I actually want to keep on my desk.
