🚀 I Built a NASA Website!

I built a retro-themed NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day viewer with olive & sage green vibes. It shows a new space image every day with the title and description.

Features:

  • 3 view modes (Normal, Dark, High Contrast)
  • Keyboard shortcuts (1, 2, 3, D, +, -)
  • Date picker to view any day’s image
  • Favorites (saves to localStorage)
  • “Surprise Me” for random space pics
  • Font size controls

Tech Stack: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Vite, NASA API, GitHub Pages

Challenges: API keys are sneaky (never commit .env!), GitHub Actions took a while to figure out, and YouTube videos need special handling.

What I Learned: Environment variables, API fetching, localStorage, keyboard events, GitHub Actions deployment, and making things actually look good with CSS.

Shoutout to NASA for the awesome API and Hack Club for the mission! ✨
