So I planned to build an operating system that is built around my favourite Pokémon, Pikachu. I am building it in Oracle VirtualBox. I will mainly use C++ for this because they are faster and also because I want to build something using my C++ skills. So what I did is not that interesting: I set up my vbox, installed git and connected hackatime to it. What I actually coded: Created a dedicated Pikachuwidget Loaded the sprite through Qt’s resource system Fixed resource loading issues and CMake errors I downloaded an image from browser that is transparent and added it to the desktop layer of pikashell. I also added functions so that it shows the time in the panel. Now I know it sounds simple, but it took me lots of time to figure out why the image is not showing up on the desktop layer.
