🌿Field Notes Devlog #2 27.07.2026. Now i have finally integrated the firebase authentication, user register, login, are working and accounts can be created now. Protected routes for the other pages to prevent unauthorized access. Implemented the Create Observation page, connected the form to the Firebase Firestore, stored observations in the cloud, associated each observation with the authenticated user’s account. One issue I ran into was that Firestore security rules were still denying all reads and writes. After updating the rules to allow authenticated users to access the observations collection, the save functionality worked as expected. Built the My Observations page.Users can now; retrieve their observations from Firestore, view only observations belonging to their own account, browse previously recorded entries. With the core observation workflow now in place, the next phase is all about giving Sylven its visual identity. Next i will finalize the color palette, apply typography and fonts across the app, design a cohesive UI for every page, improve responsiveness and overall user experience. After the UI is complete, development will continue with; observation details, edit observation, delete observation, image uploads, interactive maps, AI-powered species identification.
