I fixed the problem that I had with eighth notes by switching from using /e to /8 in vexflow. I am still having some problems with width, but overall it is much better. That is why I decided to start working on adding sound. My basic implementation of Tone.js is working very well currently. The Press to Play button plays the sound. I need to work on more features to make the website easier to use now.
