I started out by designing all of the battery schematics. I used several different sources online in order to figure our how I should get this set up and how to make sure it works how I need. The following two sources were invaluable resources in figuring out how to use the battery monitor to set this up. Combining this with a P-Channel MOSFET, I am able to separate the power delivered to the esp32 with either usb or LiPo battery. I haven’t set up all of the schematics nor components needed to make a proper/working ESP32 but that will be what I complete next. https://how2electronics.com/lithium-ion-battery-charger-circuit-using-mcp73831/
