🌊 OCEAN OS IS BACK!!!! 🥳🥳🌊🌊

OCEAN OS 5.0 HAS ARRIVED. 🚀🌊

We had an AMAZING time with OceanOS 4.0, but I decided it was time to take things to the next level with a newer, more complex generation of OceanOS.

I like to call it “The Gen 5.”

JK. It’s just called OceanOS 5.0. 😏

Seriously though, this is one of the biggest updates I’ve made so far!

🍎 Windows or macOS? You Choose.

Some of you might remember we talked about adding a toggle between Windows Mode and macOS Mode.

Well… it’s finally here!

And yes — I brought back the beloved macOS-style dock from OceanOS 3.0. 🫡

And I am NOT exaggerating:

It took me FIVE HOURS to bring that dock back.

5. WHOLE. HOURS. 😭

By the time I finished, I was running on about 3% brain power and an unreasonable amount of sleep deprivation.

JK, I’m fine guys. 😂

Getting the dock working with windows, animations, app states, minimizing, restoring, and everything else was definitely an experience.

But honestly?

It was completely worth it.

🛠️ A LOT of Bug Fixes

I fixed a bunch of bugs and annoyances you guys reported, cleaned up interactions, improved the UX, and fixed several weird behaviors.

The Guide also got a major visual upgrade so it feels more like a real part of the OS.

🔴🟡🟢 THE BUTTONS ARE BACK

THE THREE BUTTONS ARE BACK. 😂

macOS Mode now has:

🔴 Close
🟡 Minimize
🟢 Maximize

It’s a small detail, but it makes macOS Mode feel MUCH more authentic.

And after five hours getting the dock back, I was NOT leaving those out. 😭

🌅 A Fresh New Background

I added a brand-new, high-quality background because a beautiful OS deserves a beautiful wallpaper. 🌊

A lot of you have asked where I find my backgrounds. One place I like is WallpaperFlare:

There are some seriously awesome wallpapers there!

✨ A More Polished Top Bar

The top bar got a major visual refresh to make it cleaner, more modern, and more macOS-inspired.

And honestly…

I LOVE how it turned out. 😭🔥

I also added smaller improvements like smoother UX, cleaner visuals, better interactions, polished menus, animation improvements, and lots of tiny details.

The goal?

Make OceanOS feel less like a website pretending to be an operating system… and more like an actual operating system.

🧑‍💻 How Did I Make This?

A lot of you have asked how I created OceanOS.

Honestly, OceanOS has really grown on me.

I started it just a few months ago, a little after Stardance started. What began as a simple project became MUCH bigger than I expected.

I started with a blank Next.js template.

No OS. No desktop. No apps. No windows.

Just a blank project.

From there, I built everything step by step and had to learn an entirely new coding language.

And honestly?

I had a blast doing it.

There were definitely moments where I wanted to throw my computer out the window. 😂

But every problem I solved made OceanOS a little better.

🌊 OceanOS 3.0 Was a HUGE Milestone

OceanOS 3.0 was special because that was when I finally got the dock working the way I wanted.

Looking back at where OceanOS started compared to where it is now…

I’m honestly pretty proud of how far it’s come.

What started as a blank Next.js project has become a full interactive desktop environment with apps, windows, themes, animations, system UI, multiple OS modes, and much more.

And this is only OceanOS 5.0. 👀

Who knows where this thing is going next?
