π OceanOS 4.0 β I Know You All Have Been Waiting For This
WOW. It has been a WHILE!
I put a LOT of work into OceanOS 4.0, and I genuinely think you guys are going to love it. If you thought OceanOS 3.0 was great, just wait until you see this.
β±οΈ The 12 Hours of OceanOS 4.0
Hour 1 β Settings & Boot Screen
I upgraded the Settings app, fixed some long-awaited features, and completely redesigned the OceanOS boot screen.
Hour 2 β The Dock Saga π
I spent basically the entire hour trying to bring the dock back. Eventually, I gave up. π I later figured out what was wrong, but Iβm NOT spending another hour making a macOS-style toggle.
Psstβ¦ OceanOS 5.0. π
Hour 3 β Debugging
I found what felt like a hundred problems while testing everything. After an entire hour of debugging, I finally said:
βThatβs good enough.β
Then I closed my laptop and went to bed.
Hour 4 β User Experience
I realized many of my apps werenβt user-friendly, so I redesigned a bunch of them and completely changed the Ocean Store design.
Hours 5 & 6 β Tiny Changes
Mostly small changes that somehow took forever. π I also added several new apps.
Hour 7 β Start Launcher
I redesigned the Start Launcher and added even more apps to the Ocean Store.
Hour 8 β Tweaks
Added minor features, cleaned things up, and improved the code. At this point, OceanOS was looking REALLY good.
Hour 9 β SVG Era
I removed the old icons from the project and started converting everything to SVG.
Hour 10 β SVG Is NOT Easy
Probably the most stressful hour. Creating and refining SVGs took forever, but they turned out pretty great.
Hour 11 β Polish
I polished the SVG icons and improved the overall user experience.
Hour 12 β Final Push
I updated the project to use the new SVG icons, debugged everything, and added one more appβ¦
π€ Introducing: Lumos AI
Lumos AI uses Gemini 3.1 Flash Live Preview to actually speak with you. It can answer questions, communicate through voice, and support multiple languages.
Basically, you can actually talk to it. π
π And Here We Are
OceanOS 4.0 is FINALLY here!
12 hours. Countless bugs. Way too much SVG. A questionable amount of sleep. And a LOT of ocean-themed code.
The Vercel deployment is soon to be live, GitHub commits are coming right now, and you can access the localhost version whenever you want.
π± Apps
About, Music, Gallery, Settings, Camera, Ocean Shell, Web Browser, Notes, Calculator, TikTok, OceanStore, Markdown, TypeSprint, Location, Calendar, Weather, Files, Voice Recorder, Clock, Internet Speed Test, Lumos, and OceanCode.
Explore everything. Try the new apps.
Please donβt break something. π
And most importantlyβ¦
Enjoy the Ocean. π
The ocean breeze will stay here for as long as you need it.
π Welcome to OceanOS!
Your personal breezy companion.
Have a great day! π
