🥒 CucumberOS: Devlog #1 (4 Hours Logged)
Status: Around 50% done! The desktop ecosystem is live and looking clean.

What I accomplished in these 4 hours:
The OS UI & Theme: I designed a sleek top navigation bar displaying the OS name (“CucumberOS”), active window title, custom branding (“CUCUMBERSI”), and a live system clock. I paired it with an epic space/planet background.
Welcome Modal: Programmed the initial greeting window (“Welcome to CucumberOS! Introduction”) with smooth, modern rounded corners and a clean typography layout.
Desktop App Shortcuts: Created and positioned the custom-themed “NoteTaker” desktop icon in the top left corner, complete with a personalized cucumber-orange/green icon design.
The Notepad App Logic: Spent the last hour building out the functional core of the NoteTaker app. The container structure is ready; I’m currently hooking up the finishing touches so users can launch it and write notes seamlessly. The biggest roadblock:Getting the absolute positioning of the desktop icon layout to cooperate with the upper navigation bar padding took way longer than expected. Had some annoying overlap bugs where the icons would slide under the top bar, but managed to fix the CSS grid/flex bounds.
Next steps:Polishing up the final internal text-editor logic for the NoteTaker app, mapping the double-click event listener to the icon so the window spawns dynamically, and getting the drag-and-drop window positioning completely flawless.Check out the current state of CucumberOS below! 👇
